The fifth Murray strip is up. Read it here (click the last comic in the row of 5 strips).

Just a reminder that sign ups are still open for comics summer camps at The Ottawa School of Art Orleans Campus in July and August.

These camps are all introductory and require no previous writing or drawing skill. Only a creative mind is needed!

Here are the camp descriptions:

Making Comics: 9 - 11 years
A series of creative exercises will introduce participants to techniques used in the art of making comics. From learning basic cartooning skills, to discovering the magic of combining image with text, to learning how to layout a comics page and to frame panels, this course will give students a familiarity with the language of comics.

Monday - Friday, 9:00 - 16:00, July 4 - 8, 2011

Possible Worlds: Storytelling with Pictures: 6 - 8 years
Through exploring their imagined stories, characters and landscapes, and by using a variety of image making techniques, participants will play with creatively combining their pictures and stories.

Monday - Friday, 9:00 - 16:00, July 11 - 15, 2011

Comics: 12 - 15 years (bilingual course)
The summer Comics camp is a week long introductory course teaching teens how to write and draw comics, manga (Japanese comics) and graphic novels. Students will invent their own stories and learn how to write, storyboard, draw, ink and colour them. No previous writing or drawing skills are required to take this course.

Monday - Friday, 9:00 - 16:00, July 18 - 22, 2011
Monday - Friday, 9:00 - 16:00, August 8 - 12, 2011

A new comic strip on interesting or dumb gender norms I run into. I've posted two strips to start. Read them here (or go to the Comics section).

The Ottawa School of Art Orleans Campus has added two more summer camps to the two I’m already teaching, so there will be a total of four camps focusing on comics/graphic novels/manga  or other forms of image-picture storytelling in July and August.

These camps are all introductory and require no previous writing or drawing skill. A creative mind is the only requirement.
