Between September and November of 2010, I co-facilitated a comics program for LGBTQ youth aged 16 to 25 with Gatineau-based artist-teacher, Caroline Fréchette. Over four workshops, Caroline and I taught introductory writing, storyboarding and drawing for comics.
The workshops culminated in a one-night exhibition and panel discussion on queer youth at SAW Gallery in Ottawa, Ontario. SAW Gallery kindly provided the space for the workshops. The exhibition showcased work made by participants and instructors. During the event, a panel discussion with four members involved in Ottawa’s LGBTQ youth community was held. They spoke about issues affecting LGBTQ youth in the Ottawa region.
| The panel discussed issues of representation, inclusion and community related to LGBTQ youth. |
